Maria and her shadow

We are so happy to finally be able to share these great news with you. We have been working on the documentary about professional boxer Maria Lindberg for six years now – and the premiere of the finished film ”Maria and her shadow” is approaching fast!

About the film

In 1999, Maria suffers an aneurysm in the boxing ring. She recovers miraculously, but when she wants to return to the ring, her true battle begins.

The Swedish Boxing Federation won’t let her fight because of the accident, her mother is reluctant to even hearing Maria talk about boxing, and wherever in the world she travels to fight, it seems like someone is trying to stop her, as if a shadow was following her every step of the way…

The world premiere of „Maria and her shadow“ will be held at Doc Lounge (Babel, Spångatan 38 in Malmö) this Tuesday, September 17th. A second screening will be held at the biggest festival for Nordic shorts and docs, Nordisk Panorama, September 21st, also in Malmö. Read about our premiere events here.

We need your help!

This film will be used as a tool to discuss the breaches of personal freedom: but more than that, Maria’s story will also shed a light on the lives of female atheletes, whose status and paycheck has always been lower than their male colleagues.

The film is finished – but we need help to get the film out to a wide audience. That’s why we have set up a donations campaign. Klara Svensson has her training in Copenhagen with her new main-coach

Klara Svensson, now at Sauerland Promotion, former ECB, Hamburg, will train in Copenhagen. It is very practical for me, says Klara, then I am so close to my family and friends. Every day she will cross the bridge from Malmö, her hometown, to Copenhagen.
Joey Gamache is in Copenhagen her new main-coach. Christer Ekberg will be coaching her as well, like it was at ECB, where Oktay Urkal was main-coach and Chriater Ekberg even coached her in Malmö. In the corner was it Christer Ekberg to see in her fights.

Klara Svensson fighting for Team Sauerland, 19.10.2013

At a pressconference in Sweden did Sauerland Promotion present their five swedish boxers. The new one in team is Klara Svensson, former ECB, Hamburg.

Klara will fight at 19.10.2013 in Frederikshavn, Denmark.

Team Sauerland adds unbeaten Klara Svensson to ever-growing team of Nordic Fight Night talents

At Djurgårdens Boxing Club, promoter Nisse Sauerland today officially announced the signing of Klara Svensson (10-0, 4 KOs).

Svensson is thrilled to fight under the promotional banner of Europe´s biggest boxing promoters. “I am very happy to have signed with Team Sauerland,” she said. “It feels great to be their first-ever Swedish female fighter!

“Thanks to their network, their coaches and facilities I will get superb training and perfect sparring opportunities. I am very excited and can´t wait to get started.

“The Nordic Fight Night and the long-term deal with Viasat Sweden will give me a great platform to show my skills to a big audience in Sweden… on a regular basis!

“I am really looking forward to having big fights in Scandinavia so close to my home.”
Klara Svensson (10-0, 4 KOs), who joins a hard-hitting line-up that already features WBC Youth Light Heavyweight Champion Erik Skoglund (17-0, 9 KOs), KO king Oscar Ahlin (7-0, 7 KOs), 2012 London Olympian Anthony Yigit (4-0, 1 KO) and heavyweight hopeful Otto Wallin (1-0, 1 KO). “There are exciting times ahead for Swedish boxing,” Sauerland said. “Our five Nordic Fight Night talents will lift the sport to new heights and win a lot of titles for Sweden. We have big plans for all of them.”
