Jürgen Brähmers Vorbereitungen für seine WM-Titelverteidigung am 12. März laufen auf Hochtouren. Dem WBA-Champion im Halbschwergewicht wird an diesem Tag aber nicht Thomas Oosthuizen gegenüberstehen. Darauf verständigten sich kurzfristig dessen Promoter Rodney Berman und Kalle Sauerland.
„Tommys Trainer Harold Volbrecht hat mich darüber informiert, dass sein Schützling nicht annähernd in der Form ist, um Brähmer herauszufordern“, so Berman. Psychische Probleme Oosthuizens deuten laut dem 73-jährigen Südafrikaner auf das Karriereende von „Tommy Gun“ hin. Berman: „Er ist einfach der ‚Bad Boy‘ des südafrikanischen Boxsports. Harold und ich haben immer wieder versucht, ihn auf den rechten Pfad zu bringen und ihm zu helfen – doch er hat uns erneut enttäuscht. Wir sind fertig mit ihm und er höchstwahrscheinlich auch mit dem Boxen.“
Mit Hochdruck wird aktuell daran gearbeitet, einen adäquaten Ersatzgegner für die WBA-Weltmeisterschaft mit Jürgen Brähmer im Jahnsportforum zu finden. Eine harte Aufgabe fünf Wochen vor dem geplanten Termin. Kalle Sauerland: „Es ist schwer, aber wir versuchen alles, um schnellstmöglich einen adäquaten Ersatzgegner zu finden. Alle haben einen WM-Kampf auf Augenhöhe verdient: Jürgen, der gefordert werden will, unser TV-Partner und vor allem die Fans, die uns quasi die Tickets in Neubrandenburg aus den Händen reißen.“
Der neue WM-Herausforderer von Jürgen Brähmer soll in den nächsten Tagen präsentiert werden.

München – „Wir wollen Schritt für Schritt zu einem WM-Kampf gehen, vielleicht 2017.“ Nach seinem ersten Titel im Profiboxen (deutscher Meister) plant Howik „der Löwe“ Bebraham (25) die nächste Stufe auf der Erfolgsleiter. Allerdings mit einer ganz „linken Tour“: Der frühere erfolgreiche Amateurboxer der Münchner Löwen (weit über 150 Siege in der Bundesliga, bei Meisterschaften und internationalen Turnieren) schlägt mit seiner linken Führhand so viele Jabs wie sonst kaum einer, nicht einmal in den ganz leichten (Fliegen)-Gewichtsklassen. „Wir haben im Sparring schon mal deutlich über 200 Jabs in einer Runden gezählt,“ berichtet sein Profitrainer und Manager Alexander Petkovic, selbst mal Weltmeister, allerdings bei den ganz schweren Jungs.
Petkos Credo, dass die Kämpfe zwar häufig mit dem letzten Treffer, der Schlaghand, endgültig entschieden werden, doch die Führhand den Kampf vorentscheiden, fällt bei Howik auf, mehr als fruchtbaren Boxen. Schon bei den Amateuren glänzte er mit dieser Waffe, die er nun von Profi-Training zu Profi-Training perfektioniert. „Ich habe meine beiden ersten Kämpfe im Profiring vor allem deshalb so überzeugend gewonnen, weil meine Jabs den Kampf dominierten.“ Für Alexander Petkovic freilich hat Howik eine besondere Begabung. „Er schlägt die Jabs nicht nur der Jabs willen, er trifft auch noch. Und das zermürbt jeden Gegner.“ Bei seinem Sieg zum deutschen Meistertitel gegen den erfahrenen Ahmet Cicek (Pfungstadt) hat er in einer Szene der ersten Runde siebenmal hintereinander den Jab innerhalb weniger Sekunden geschlagen – und siebenmal getroffen, wie die TV-Bilder deutlich zeigen.
Dies beeindruckt nicht nur die Punktrichter, sondern auch die Gegner. Und Manager Alexander Petkovic. „Howik wird in kürzester Zeit ganz oben ankommen,“ ist sich Petko sicher. Der nächste Schritt auf diesem Weg soll schon im April erfolgen, bei der nächsten Box-Gala, bei der Howik „der Löwe“ Bebraham erstmals Hauptkämpfer sein wird. Auf seine ganz „linke Tour“…
Aufgeschoben ist nicht aufgehoben! Jürgen Brähmer (47-2, 35 K.o.´s) trifft am 12. März im Neubrandenburger Jahnsportforum auf Thomas Oosthuizen (25-0-2, 14 K.o.´s). Eigentlich sollte das Duell der Rechtsausleger um die Halbschwergewichts-WM nach Version der WBA bereits letzten November ausgetragen werden. Damals erlitt Brähmer kurz vor dem geplanten Aufeinandertreffen mit dem ungeschlagenen Südafrikaner eine Handverletzung. Jetzt ist beim Titelverteidiger aber wieder alles verheilt und der Kampf gegen Oosthuizen kann kommen!
„Neubrandenburg hat einen ganz besonderen Platz in meinem Herzen, denn hier bin ich Ende 2013 erneut Weltmeister geworden“, so Brähmer und ergänzt: „Daher freue ich mich sehr, meinen WM-Titel am 12. März dort erfolgreich verteidigen zu dürfen.“
Der Mann in der gegnerischen Ecke will dies unbedingt verhindern. Thomas Oosthuizen ist das „Enfant terrible“ des südafrikanischen Boxsports. Gesegnet mit einer hervorragenden Technik und einer Armspannweite von fast zwei Metern, hat es der 1,93 Meter große Schützling von Harold Volbrecht in der Vergangenheit schon einmal gern privat krachen lassen – ohne Rücksicht auf seine Karriere! „Das liegt jetzt alles hinter mir. Ich konzentriere mich nur noch auf den Sport. Brähmer wird meine Schläge nicht kommen sehen, genauso wenig wie den WM-Gürtel nach dem Kampf“, kündigt der 27-jährige Herausforderer , der aufgrund seiner Schnelligkeit den Kampfnamen „Tommy Gun“ trägt, an.
Dem zehn Jahre älteren Champion ringen solche Worte nicht mehr als ein müdes Lächeln ab. Brähmer: „Ich habe schon gute Erfahrung gegen solche ‚Riesen‘ wie Oosthuizen gemacht. Enzo Maccarinelli war genauso groß und er hat vorzeitig gegen mich verloren. Ob nun durch K.o. oder über die Punkte – der Südafrikaner wird höchstens mit einem Anzuggürtel den Heimweg wieder antreten!“
„Das wird in jedem Fall ein technisch hochklassiger Fight“, ist Kalle Sauerland überzeugt, „Jürgen Brähmer wird gegen einen Boxer mit dem Prädikat ‚Weltklasse‘ zeigen, dass er zum Besten gehört, was das Halbschwergewicht zu bieten hat!“ Der Promoter erwartet bei Brähmers nächstem Heimspiel in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern zudem ein ausverkauftes Haus. Sauerland: „Die Leute dort sind echte Boxfanatiker. Und besonders wenn Jürgen hier boxt, stehen sie wie eine Wand hinter ihm – das wird am 12. März nicht anders sein.“

Scott Dixon Promotions arranged a spectacular fight night at the night club Tigullio at Spinola Bay, St Julians, Malta.
The promoter can be satisfied with a full house watching 9 boxing fights of high quality.
Claire Caintar is a girl who will reach the top European level in a year. She met the Italian boxer Marilena Andonico and won her fight in super bantamweight on an unanimous decision (UD).
Theon Camilleri won an UD vs Peter Adam in a clean nice fight. Sean Turner manage to win over the local Mike Carter on a split decision, SD, in heavyweight.
Returning in the ring after seven years brake did Darren Mairs in a spectacular victory against the Italian Francesco Saladino. Darren started with full speed in the first round. After 2:42 minutes in the first round it´s finished, TKO win for Mairs.
From Dixon´s Boxing Club showed Steve Cooke that he has learned to box from a master. KO over David Cross in round 2 at 1:09 minutes.
Duncan Calleja had an unconvential boxing style from Alex Edwards to manage. Edwards holding the main time was closed for warnings and disqualifying. The ref did a good job and tried to let the fight flew. No easy job, and as a very clear winner was after the 8 rounds the Maltese promising boxer Duncan Calleja.
Luke Frost opened his fight vs Christian Schembri very wild and quickly. Frost had not travelled from UK to come and loose in Malta. A very active boxer going on the whole time. In the second round showed Christian Schembri how a hard working boxer do it. The body shuts was too much for Frost, who lost in the round 2 at 2:37 minutes. Schembri is a very promising boxer, with heart for boxing and well-trained with a good condition. A name to rember!
A brake was necessary as the boxer Seeden from UK was too overexcited and he
collapsed in the ring waiting of the walk-in of his opponent. The hero of the night was Dr Mark Xuereb, who was in the audience wathcing the fight night. This doctor do love boxing and he saw Seeden falling in the ring, he came and assisted the ring-doctor and nurse. Seeden got oxygene and got transported with the ambulance to the hospital. In the mean-time he is doing well. The last fights had to wait to start until the ambulance has returned.
The best fight of the night was for sure the battle between Kerstin Brown vs Lee Clayton. This fight was a real top-fight! Kerstin Brown, The Bullet, is a quick boxer and put his shuts more preciously as Lee managed to do. It was a very close fight, even if Kerstin won an UD. Lee did a fantastic fight and we can be sure he wants a rematch. These two fighters is it a real pleasure to watch. Hopefully Lee will return to Malta to fight again. Brown is looking for an international career and wants to fight abroad, in Italy, Germany or anywhere and against anyone.
The main fight with Scott Dixon was even a brillaint fight. Misic was not here to loose and tried to make it as difficult as possible for Dixon.
In the 5th round was it time for Super´s hard body-shuts. Three times did Scott knock-down Misic and the last knock-down was far too much for the Croatian boxer. Scott Dixon is after this KO-victory the Champion in light heavyweight of WBU.
Congratulations Scott for a great fight, for a succesful event.
Boxing is in Malta a popular sport and growing more and more. The Gatsby Boxing event was sanctioned of the only Maltese sanction body, Malta Boxing Association, MBA, a member of EBU.
Noch nie ist es einem deutschen Boxer gelungen, einen WM-Kampf in Las Vegas zu gewinnen. Genau hier will Arthur Abraham (44-4, 29 K.o.´s) am 9. April aufs Ganze gehen, seinen WM-Titel verteidigen und sich endgültig unsterblich machen. Leicht wird diese Aufgabe garantiert nicht. Vor einem dann ausverkauften Haus in der MGM Grand Garden Arena (16.800 Plätze) will „King Arthur“ Abraham zeigen, wieso er vom weltweit renommierten Fachmagazin „The Ring“ an der Spitze des Super-Mittelgewichts geführt wird. Zusätzlich dürfen sich die deutschen Boxfans noch auf ein weiteres Highlight an diesem Abend freuen, denn Superstar Manny Pacquiao feiert nach fast einem Jahr Pause seine Rückkehr in den Ring. Zum dritten Mal trifft Pacquiao dabei auf WBO-Weltergewichts-Weltmeister Tim Bradley, gegen den er jeweils einmal knapp verloren (2012) und gewonnen (2014) hat.

Auch Kult-Trainer Ulli Wegner freut sich auf den USA-Trip und ist fest von seinem Schützling überzeugt: „Das ist die vielleicht größte Herausforderung seiner Karriere. Arthur kann zu einem deutschen Box-Helden werden.“ Die Marschroute ist auch schon klar. Wegner: „Wir werden nichts dem Zufall überlassen – und nicht wie einst Felix Sturm in seinem Kampf gegen Oscar de la Hoya uns auf die Punktrichter verlassen. Das Ding wollen wir ganz klar für uns entscheiden.“

Hayemaker Promotions and Salter Brothers Entertainment have agreed a deal with YouTube that will see the ‘Haye Day’ event from The O2 in London live streamed outside of the UK for free.
The Hayemaker’s YouTube channel will host the live stream, which kicks-off at 9pm GMT and will deliver the feed from UK host broadcaster Dave, part of UKTV, which will run until 11pm GMT.

UKTV has landed the exclusive UK rights for former boxing world champion David Haye’s long-awaited comeback fight. The match will be shown on UKTV’s flagship free-to-air entertainment channel, Dave, live from the O2 on Saturday 16 January at 9pm.
David Haye, the former world champion in two different weight categories, is returning to professional boxing with a heavyweight bout against Australia’s Mark De Mori. Haye’s comeback fight will be his first since defeating Dereck Chisora at Upton Park over three years ago and sees Haye take on a top 10 WBA ranked heavyweight in De Mori, who boasts a record of 30 wins (26 KOs), and only one defeat, since turning pro in 2004. De Mori is undefeated since September 2004 and most recently claimed a first round knock-out of Germany’s Marcel Zeller in October.
In addition to the live match, Dave is also showing a special half-hour preview show Haye v De Mori: The Countdown, the night before, on Friday 15th January at 8pm featuring the build up to the fight, the story of the preparation and the reason why David wants to stage a comeback.
Live Boxing: David Haye v Mark De Mori (TBC) will be shown live from the O2 and has been ordered by UKTV director of commissioning Richard Watsham and Dave general manager Steve North. The two-hour special (9pm – 11pm) will include highlights from the day’s boxing at the O2, live music performances and live studio discussions plus all the action from the ringside.

The Hayemaker, who is widely recognised as one of the best British boxers of all time, was the first British boxer to become a unified cruiserweight champion in 2008, winning three out of the four major world titles, as well as The Ring magazine title. Haye then moved up to heavyweight and won the WBA title in 2009 after defeating Russian giant Nikolai Valuev and in the process became only the second boxer in history to have unified the cruiserweight titles and won a heavyweight world championship.
Commenting on his return, Haye said: “I’m so happy to be stepping back into the ring with my hometown crowd behind me. It’s been a long time out, with many ups and downs, but ‘The Hayemaker’ is finally back, and ready to do what I do best. I’m a young 35, in boxing terms, and still have my explosive speed and punching power. I’m looking forward to putting on a great show for the fans on ‘Haye Day’ at The O2 on January 16 and I’m delighted that my first fight in three and a half years is going to be available free to air on Dave giving as many people as possible the chance to watch my comeback. I was determined to make this comeback fight free to everybody and fans should sit back and get ready for another fun-fuelled ride as I look to regain the heavyweight championship of the world.”
‘Haye Day’ will be promoted by David’s own promotional company Hayemaker Boxing Ltd, together with entertainment, media and marketing organisation, Salter Brothers Entertainment, Goodwin Productions and support from The O2. Live Boxing: David Haye v Mark De Mori is produced by David Green at Giant Film & TV and Salter Brothers Entertainment for UKTV and is executive produced by UKTV’s Helen Nightingale.
Securing the rights to the fight is a strong start to 2016 for Dave, UKTV’s flagship free-to-air entertainment channel, which last year retained its place as the number one non-PSB channel in the UK and grew for the fourth consecutive year. Brand new comedy gameshow Taskmaster, fronted by comedians Greg Davies and Alex Horne, proved a hit, attracting 539k viewers to its highest rating episode. The show’s mix of banter and outlandish tasks quickly propelled it to cult status and two further series are in the works for later this year. Another original show, Red Bull Soap Box Live drew in 640k viewers (724k individuals). Emmy award-nominated The Last Man on Earth was the highest rating acquisition on Dave, with its best rating episode attracting 596k adults.
