Christian Schembri alias Coqqos will enter the ring at the 17.09.2016 in Aria Complex, San Gwann, Malta. Schembri started his professional career with a fight against the very experienced Scott Dixon. He impressed in this bout of 12 rounds to make it hard for Scott Dixon. On the 11.03.2016 he got his rematch. The bout of 10 rounds Christian Schembri had raised his performance and won on a split decision, SD, against Dixon. Dixon was not active in the bout, but got that upset of his loss that he refused to do the doping test. The refuse was reported to NADO, who will decide about suspension. MBA had no either choise as to report a temporary suspension. Scott Dixon is still suspended. Further news from NADO coming soon.
At the event in San Gwann will Steve Super Martin fight against Aaron Thomas.

At Hotel Hilten in Brussels, Belgium, hold The European Boxing Union, EBU, its Anual Genrral Assembly. All the European boxing organisations were represented.
Only one organisation can be representing a country.
BDB from Germany was as a provisional meber and did get the status of ordinary member. The decision to give MBA, Malta Boxing Association, the ordninary membership was done with applaus. Last year MBA applied for membership in competition with two other organisations, MBCommission, a UK-based Ltd leaded of Mr Gianluca di Caro and MBCouncil, leaded of Eva Rolle, Berlin. 2015 decided EBU to give the only Maltese organisation MBA, even a member of the Malta Sport Council, KMS, the provisional membership .
MBA even got very honoured to host the Anual General Assembly 2017 in Valletta, Malta.
The boxer Cedric Vitu got honoured as the best boxer of the year and his fight Vitu vs Santos as the best fight of the year.

Main boxing fight will be the female boxing fight Mandy Cortis vs Diane Schembri. The first time in the Maltese boxing history that a female fight is the main event. Two very talented girls will thrill the audience.
Further fights will be Christian Schembri vs Mirkko Molsar. Christian Schembri is the promising boxer in Malta in super middleweight. He won his rematch against Scott Dixon and is on his way to the top.
Further promising boxer is Kerstin Brown, alias The Rocket.

Six years ago, the boxing community united themselves together with a large
majority of other local sporting bodies and the general public to express
their heartfelt condolences to the family of Mr. Benny Pace who passed away
on the 23rd February 2010 at the age of 73.
Benny Pace was the Secretary General of the Maltese Olympic Committee
between 1964 & 1968, former Valletta FC secretary and was also heavily
involved in Maltese Boxing during the sixties and seventies as the
Secretary General of the Malta Boxing Federation.
He was also inducted into the Maltese Olympic Committee ‘Hall of fame’ for
his contribution to sport journalism & his work in the field of sport
administration.
This new title belt will serve as the boxing’s national memorial while
providing a stepping stone between the promoter’s local titles, known to
the MBA as ‘domestic titles’, and SportMalta’s National boxing Championship
titles. ‘The Benny Pace Memorial Title’ will be expected to be defended
every 6 months and those failing to defend it will be stripped off this
title.
As the sport of Boxing in Malta has boomed in the last few years and as
unlicensed boxing faded in the popularity, the MBA introduced a project in
order to continue to shape and regularize the fight game “championship”
since championship belts were awarded on a regular basis by unlicensed
boxing . The Benny Pace Memorial Belt will identify ‘true’ champions in the
making.
There may be bigger prizes on offer in terms of world, international and
the national titles, but to win a Benny Pace title, the prestige of such
title will remain long after the cheers have died down.
At the Ten Count Promotions event on the 31.08.2015 in Malta did Super-Scott win against the experienced Josef Krivka with a TKO in the 4th round as Krivka got counted for the third time in the forth round. Referee Marc James stopped the fight after counting the third time in round 4.
