WBA Intercontinental Middleweight Champion Patrick Nielsen (17-0, 8 KOs) will take on Patrick Mendy (14-5, 1 KO) at the Nordic Fight Night in Esbjerg on February 9. The “Tiger”, as he is known to his fans in the UK, made himself a name in 2010 when he became the youngest-ever winner of the popular Prizefighter tournament. Two years later, he boasts a record of 14 wins and five defeats. “I am coming to Denmark to destroy Nielsen,” he said. “I am Patrick “The Tiger” Mendy, I will cut Nielsen everywhere and leave my mark on his face!”
Nielsen has laughed off Mendy`s fight talk. “I have heard a lot of rubbish from my opponents before fights,” he said. “This one guy, Gaston Vega, even wore a slayer-shirt at the press conference. At the end of the day, it was always them in the dust, not me. It will be the same with Mendy. He´s going down, like all of my opponents before him.”
Neither Nielsen nor Mendy will have a peaceful Christmas time. “Right now Micki and I are training in Denmark, we are working extremely hard. We will stay in Copenhagen until the new year and then go to training camp in Guestrow. We will have a little Christmas party with our family but unfortunately I can´t touch all the delicious food. I need to be in perfect shape in Esbjerg because I want to give the fans at Blue Water Dokken a very special fight.”
Mendy said: “There will be no Christmas for me, I only train, that´s what fighters do, train all the time. This is a very important fight for me, I am coming to take Nielsen´s title and that is what I am training for.”
Promoter Nisse Sauerland is excited about the clash. “I think this will be a very interesting fight. They are young, a 21-year-old versus a 22-year-old, they are hot-blooded, they have both enjoyed some early success in their careers and once the bell goes I am sure they will jump at each other. It will be an exciting main event for the Nordic Fight Night at Blue Water Dokken.”
More fights will be announced shortly. Norwegian Featherweight Andreas Evensen (17-2-1, 6 KOs) will challenge European Champion Alexander Miskirtchian (21-2-1, 7 KOs). Tickets for the first Nordic Fight Night of 2013 are available at billetten.dk.

The WBA female flyweight Championship will take part at friday 01.02.2013 at ISS Dome, Düsseldorf, Germany. The Killer-Queen will this time even do more, so it will be now doubt who is the Champ. Her coach Magomed Schaburow will prepare her even better as last time. It will be a hard battle beside Felix Sturm´s own eliminator fight at this event.

Keine fette Weihnachtsgans, keine „feucht-fröhliche“ Silvester-Party – bei Cruisergewichtler Alexander Alekseev kommen an den Festtagen nur kraft- und Kondition steigernde Gerichte bzw. Getränke auf den Tisch. Schuld daran ist sein Promoter Erol Ceylan, denn der hat nämlich für seinen Schützling den Eliminator-Fight gegen Garrett Wilson (USA) eingefädelt. Termin: 22. Februar 2012. Der Sieger darf dann Sauerlands IBF-Champion Yoan Pablo Hernandez herausfordern!
„Wir haben uns mit dem Wilson-Management schon vor dem angesetzten purse bid-Termin, das war der 26. Dezember 2012, geeinigt und ein Agreement getroffen“, so Ceylan. „Wir werden den Kampf veranstalten“. Wie viel muss der Hamburger für diesen Kracher auf den Tisch blättern? Ceylan: „Wir haben keine Kosten gescheut, weil wir bei einem so hochinteressanten Fight einfach kein Risiko eingehen wollen, auswärts vielleicht doch verschaukelt zu werden. Deshalb wird der Kampf in Deutschland oder in Rumänien stattfinden. Jetzt müssen wir entscheiden zwischen Cuxhaven an der Elbmündung und der Stadt Galati an der unteren Donau, die circa 240 Kilometer von der Hauptstadt Bukarest entfernt liegt“.
Was spricht für die beiden Städte? Ceylan: „In Cuxhaven haben wir mit Gerhard Schlichting einen Partner, mit dem wir bisher nur gute Erfahrungen gemacht haben. Allerdings gibt es dort für uns kaum etwas zu verdienen. Und für Galati spricht nicht nur, dass sie die Heimatstadt von unserem Schwergewichtler Christian Hammer ist. Der Bürgermeister dort ist nämlich ein absoluter Box-Fan. Er hat signalisiert, dass er uns gerne unterstützen will –natürlich auch finanziell. Das alles werden wir jetzt genau ausloten und schnell eine Entscheidung über den Austragungsort treffen“.
Welche Chancen hat Alekseev, die Hürde Wilson zu nehmen? Ceylan: „Ich bin sicher, dass Alexander diese Aufgabe souverän lösen wird. Er sollte dem 30-jährigen Amerikaner, dessen Kampfrekord 13 Siege, 5 Niederlagen und ein Unentschieden aufweist, in allen Belangen überlegen sein. Natürlich nehmen wir diese tolle Möglichkeit keineswegs auf die leichte Schulter. Deshalb trainiert Alexander jetzt auch schon ziemlich hart, um den ‚Ultimate Warrior’ aus Philadelphia für die Chance auf einen WM-Fight gegen Yoan Pablo Hernandez sicher aus dem Weg zu räumen“.
The rumour of Anthony Yigit that he would end his amateur career last weekend have been denied from Anthony himself. Yigit has a contract as an amateur boxer until end of February 2013 and he wil fulfil this contract with the Bundesliga.

British boxing talent Deion Jumah signs long-term deal with Team Sauerland
Team Sauerland is pleased to announce the signing of British amateur star Deion Jumah. A two-time ABAE Cruiserweight Champion and former England international, Jumah will be joining a stable of cruiserweight champions including Marco Huck (WBO), Yoan Pablo Hernandez (IBF) and Mateusz Masternak (European).
Boxing out of London’s famous Dale Youth Amateur Boxing Club, which amongst others has produced Commonwealth Super-Middleweight Champion George Groves and European Super-Middleweight Champion & Olympic gold medalist James DeGale, Jumah has already amassed an impressive amateur record (22-1, 13 KOs). “At this stage of his career he is as good as anyone I have ever trained, including Groves and DeGale,“ said Mick Delaney, Head Coach at Dale Youth A.B.C. “He has got everything going for him and can definitely go a long way.“
Having spurned the advances of a number of British promoters, Jumah has opted to sign with Team Sauerland. “I met Nisse Sauerland in London and we got on really well,“ said the 23-year-old. “I grew up watching Sauerland fights. As a cruiserweight I always followed boxing on the European scene as the division is stronger there than in the UK or US. It is an honour to think that I can now be a part of that.“
The powerful southpaw is relishing the unique opportunity he will be given at Team Sauerland. “A lot of fighters do not get the chance to travel until later in their career and it can come as a shock to their system,“ said Jumah. “From the beginning of my career I will be fighting all over the world and at home in the UK. I will be gaining valuable experience which will help me become a worldwide star.“
Jumah remains unfazed by the prospect of turning professional. “I think my style is more suited to professional boxing,“ he remarked. “I enjoy big crowds and a big ring. Even as an amateur I always went for the big shots and stoppages. I love fighting, this is who I am and this is what I am made to do.“
Promoter Nisse Sauerland has no doubts over Jumah’s ability. “We hit it off from the moment we met and as soon as I saw him fight in the ABAs I knew he could go all the way,“ said Sauerland. “I aim to keep him as busy as possible over the next few years and have him fighting all over the world. Deion is a promoter’s dream and I am sure we are looking at a future world champion.“
Jumah is set to make his professional debut on February 9 as part of Team Sauerland’s Nordic Fight Night series at Blue Water Dokken in Esbjerg, Denmark. In the main event of the evening, 21-year-old Danish star Patrick Nielsen (17-0, 8 KOs) will make the third defence of his WBA Intercontinental Middleweight Title.
