Lokalmatador Arslan boxt gegen „Buntbarsch“ Valori!
Schwere Aufgabe für Firat Arslan (40-8-2, 25 KOs) bei seinem Heimspiel am 7. Oktober in der Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle in Stuttgart (live auf SKY Select und ranFIGHTING.de). Der 46-jährige Ex-Champion, der im Vorprogramm der „World Boxing Super Series“ boxen wird, muss gegen den erfahrenen Argentinier Alejandro Emilio Valori (24-12, 17 KOs) ran.
Arslan, der vor dem Viertelfinale um die „Ali Trophy“ zwischen IBO-Weltmeister Chris Eubank Jr. und Avni Yildirim, in den Ring steigen wird, ist gewarnt. „Valori ist ein harter Gegner, der schon gegen Nathan Cleverly, Rakhim Chakhkiev und Noel Gevor seinen Mann gestanden hat“, sagt Arslan. Mit einem guten Kampf gegen den Argentinier will sich der Box-Veteran für einen erneuten WM-Kampf empfehlen. „Am liebsten gegen Marco Huck, doch jetzt gilt meine ganze Aufmerksamkeit Valori, den ich nicht unterschätzen werde. Zudem will ich meinen treuen Fans in meiner Heimat einen tollen Kampf bieten“, sagt Arslan.
Arslans Gegner Alejandro Emilio Valori ist 34 Jahre alt und möchte sich ebenfalls mit einem Sieg für hochdotierte Kämpfe in Europa empfehlen. „Ich komme nicht, um zu verlieren. Ich bin deutlich jünger als Arslan und werde seine Karriere am 7. Oktober in Stuttgart beenden. Der Fisch wird böse zubeißen“, verspricht Valori, der sich selbst den Kampfnamen „Mojarra“ verpasst hat. Mojarra sind Süßwasserfische aus der Familie der Echten Salmler – oder frei übersetzt: ein kleiner Buntbarsch! Große Chance, starker Gegner: Härtel darf bei der WBSS mitmachen!
Härtel hält sich bereit! Die „World Boxing Super Series“ macht Anfang Oktober erneut Station in Deutschland. Am 7. Oktober rückt die Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle in den Mittelpunkt der Boxwelt, wenn sich Chris Eubank Jr. (25-1, 19 KOs) und Avni Yildirim (16-0, 10 KOs) gegenüberstehen. Dabei geht es nicht nur um die IBO-Weltmeisterschaft im Super-Mittelgewicht von Eubank, sondern um den Einzug ins Halbfinale. Sollte sich jedoch einer der beiden Hauptkämpfer vorab verletzen, schlägt seine Stunde: Stefan Härtel (14-0, 1 KO)! Der Berliner ist nämlich zum Ersatz-Teilnehmer im Kampf um die „Muhammad Ali Trophy“ ernannt worden. Doch selbst wenn er nicht boxt, steht Härtel vor einem echten Härtetest: dem Ukrainer Viktor Polyakov (13-1-1, 6 KOs)!
„Das könnte mein großer Tag werden“, freut sich Härtel, der sich unter der Leitung von Trainerfuchs Ulli Wegner auf den Kampfabend in der Neckarmetropole vorbereitet. „In aller erster Linie konzentriere ich mich natürlich auf Polyakov“, erklärt der 29-Jährige Normalausleger, „aber trotzdem halte ich die Ohren offen, wie es sowohl Eubank Jr. als auch Yildirim geht. Ich würde niemanden etwas Böses wünschen, doch sollte ich nachrücken, wäre ich zu 100 Prozent darauf vorbereitet!“
Das bestätigen auch die Aussagen von Coach Wegner. „Stefan ist technisch hervorragend ausgebildet und kann technisch wie taktisch im Training jeden das Wasser reichen“, so der 75-Jährige, „jetzt muss er es nur noch im Wettkampf beweisen.“ Im Normalfall wird aber Viktor Polyakov schon eine große Herausforderung für Härtel darstellen. Wegner: „Er ist wie Stefan ein sehr gut ausgebildeter Amateur, hat zuletzt Ex-Weltmeister Giovanni De Carolis überdeutlich nach Punkten in dessen Heimatstadt Rom geschlagen. Das wird eine echte Standortbestimmung!“
Härtel kann den 7. Oktober jedenfalls kaum abwarten. „Egal wie es kommt, ich will den nächsten Schritt nach vorn machen und Fans und Experten beweisen, dass ich über Kurz oder Lang an der Spitze des Super-Mittelgewichts mitspielen werde!“

Arthur Abraham vs Chris Eubank Jr for the IBO title on July 15 in London
It’s official! Arthur Abraham (46-5, 30 KOs) will challenge Chris Eubank Jr (24-1, 19 KOs) for the IBO World Super Middleweight Championship on July 15 at the SSE Arena, Wembley in London, live on ITV Box Office in the UK.
‘King’ Arthur, a former two-weight World ruler, will have the opportunity to claim World honours for a fourth time following reigns at 160 and 168 pounds.
Although fighting for the first time on UK soil, the German veteran is no stranger to British boxers having previously shared the ring with Carl Froch, Paul Smith and Martin Murray in a series of memorable World title fights.
Eubank Jr, the son of the legendary British fighter Chris Eubank, will be making the first defence of the IBO super middleweight strap he claimed with a tenth-round technical knockout victory over Australia’s Renold Quinlan in February.
Speaking at a press conference today in London, Abraham said: ‘’I’m very happy to have the opportunity to fight here in England. The UK boxing fans are among the best in the World, and I look forward to putting on a great show on July 15.
‘’I will train hard with my coach Ulli Wegner. I will make sure I’m in top shape and ready to secure a great victory. I know Chris Eubank Jr is a good fighter, like his father, and I’m expecting a tough fight, but I’m confident I will beat him!’’
‘’Arthur Abraham has my respect,’’ said Eubank Jr. ‘’He has done what he’s done in his career, but now it’s my time. I have been preparing my whole life to fight the best, and now, I have the opportunity to fight one of the top super middleweights in the World, and to really make my mark on the division.
‘’Abraham is a strong, come forward fighter, but he’s one-dimensional. He’s very good in that one dimension, but a one-dimensional fighter cannot beat me. I see a lot of holes in his game and I’m going to exploit those holes ruthlessly.’’
Eubank Jr was joined by his father Chris Eubank, the former WBO middleweight and super middleweight World Champion, who said: ‘’Arthur Abraham is a great warrior and I’m sure the boxing fraternity will say it’s a tough fight, but I don’t think it’s a tough fight. I think he’s in danger like my son’s previous opponents. But talk is cheap and I will step back now and let him do what he does.’’
Abraham and Eubank Jr will come face-to-face again at a press conference tomorrow at the Titanic Hotel in Berlin ahead of their IBO World title clash.

The problem was that Chris Eubank wanted operational control of the show. He wanted to select his own ticket prices, which when I saw I nearly fainted. I would have been strung up. He wanted to select his own undercard, select the purses for the undercard. Even security and hotels. I don’t need that hassle in my life – that’s what we do, that’s what we’ve done for 30 years.
They FIGHT and we’ll make them all the money in the world. We do an unbelievable job and they collect it at the end. I’m not going to give a fighter and an ex-fighter operational control of an event that could go horribly, horribly wrong. That’s not the way we work.“
