Frankie Gavin says he’s ready to destroy ahead of his West Midlands blockbuster derby against Jason Welborn on Friday 18th January. The unbeaten Birmingham star makes the first defence of his British Welterweight title at a sold-out Walsall Town Hall, live and exclusive on BoxNation, (Sky Ch. 437, Virgin Ch. 546).

Midlands Area champ Welborn from Tividale has won three of his last four fights by stoppage, but Gavin, still Britain’s only ever World amateur champion, is confident he’ll do a number on his rival.

„I’m in the best shape of my life, I’m fitter than a butcher’s dog and I can’t wait for next Friday night,“ Said Gavin.

„I’ve worked my arse off in the gym with my trainer Tom Chaney and we’ve had the best training camp so far to prepare for this fight. I feel I’ve improved a lot since the Junior Witter fight last November and he was probably the most awkward opponent I could have faced, but I well beat him,“

„Welborn’s style will suite me down to the ground, he comes forward and likes to have a tear-up, he’ll get destroyed against me when he does that. I’ll be hitting him with so many angles and combinations that he’ll be taken apart,“

Providing Gavin gets past Welborn, the 27-year-old is then targeting a European title before an assault on the world title next year.

He added, „We haven’t underestimated Welborn, he’s strong and he’s a big puncher, but no disrespect to him, if I can’t beat him I may as well give up,“

„I’m in this business to win world titles and beating Welborn is another step towards that aim for me. The next step for me after would be the European which is a belt I’d love to win, “

„Winning the British title was a dream come true, but keeping hold of it will be hard, it’s a beautiful and prestigious belt and Welborn wants it, but I’ll be leaving with it.“

Gavin v Welborn is live and exclusive on BoxNation, (Sky Ch. 437, Virgin Ch. 546).

Gavin, Hall and Walsh in Title Action on Haye-Chisora Show

British stars Frankie Gavin, Matthew Hall and Liam Walsh will all feature in big championship title action at West Ham United on Saturday 14th July. The show, promoted by BoxNation in association with Sauerland Events and Hayemaker Boxing, is headlined by the highly anticipated all-British heavyweight showdown between David Haye and Dereck Chisora.

The show, which also features Alexander Povetkin defending his WBA World Heavyweight title against Hasim Rahman, is live and exclusive on BoxNation, (Sky Ch. 456, Virgin Ch. 546).

It was confirmed at a press conference in London today that unbeaten Birmingham welterweight ace Frankie Gavin, Britain’s only ever World Amateur Champion, will challenge for the Vacant WBO European title against an opponent to be confirmed.

Cromer’s exciting Liam Walsh, who’s last fight was a thriller against Paul Appleby last September, takes on Frenchman Sebastian Cornu – who he beat on points in September 2010 – for the Vacant WBO European Super-Featherweight Championship.

Undefeated Walsh already holds the Commonwealth title and is looking forward to fighting for another belt. “This is a fantastic opportunity for me to showcase my talent on the biggest show of the year, in front of a massive crowd, live on BoxNation, it’s just a dream for me and I can’t wait for it.”

Manchester puncher Matthew Hall, a former Commonwealth Champion, will be looking to cause a big upset against rising unbeaten German star Jack Culcay with the Vacant WBA International Light-Middleweight title on the line.

Hall lost to Sam Webb in April, but is now ready to bounce back into action and claim the title. “I know I can pull off a massive shock against Culcay. I’ve got the experience and toughness to beat him, I know I can do it. I’ve got a family to feed and if I don’t fight and win then they will go without so I know I’ve got to beat Culcay and win the title.”

Also announced today was that BoxNation and venerated charity Nordoff Robbins, who use music therapy and other music services to help people with a range of challenges including autism, dementia, mental health and brain injury, will tie up for the fight.

A charitable donations is being made by BoxNation to Nordoff Robbins and there will be a charitable collection at the show on Saturday 14th July.

Tickets are available from http://www.frankwarren.com/tickets/haye-vs-chisora.html and http://www.eventim.co.uk and 0871 222 2700. Watch live on BoxNation, (Sky Ch. 456, Virgin Ch. 546) and join at boxnation.com
