Nico Salzmann with his WBC Baltic Silver Belt

Nico Salzmann won a split decision (SD) at Saturday 09.03.2013 in CU-Arena, Hamburg, against Ali Mammadov. Nico won the vacant WBC Baltic Silver light middleweight title.

The judges scores were:  Timo Habighorst 94-96, Dieter Adam 93-97 and Irene Kostenko 97-91.

It was a hard fight all the ten rounds, the most interesting fight of the evening. Now it seems that it could be a rematch about the title.

The team of Ali Mammadov has made a protest against the result. To expect that WBC will change the official result has to be doubted. The usual way in such cases is that the boxing organization will prolong a rematch. The spectators can definitly not complain about such a decision. That fight will be very amusing to watch.

The team of Nico Salzmann got upset as the represent of WBC went into the cabin of Salzmann and prolonged to get the belt back as it is not paid. He asked for 1.000 euro and Nico would get his belt otherwise it will be in the hands of WBC, he said. BDB has informed that the fees to WBC has been declared as paid before the bout and included even the costs of the belt. Salzmann´s team got very upset as they have seen photos of Ali Mammadov posing with the belt that just Salzmann had won.

Outside the arena people saw the manager of Mammadov had the belt under his arm leaving the arena after the event. Nico Salzmann and his team have written a letter to Sulaiman at WBC asking where the WBC Baltic Silver belt is.

Further has not the hotel-bill of Salzmann and his complete purse been paid as agreed in the contract, commented the team of Salzmann. At a rematch it can all be cleared, the outstanding bills, the belt, the result. In awaiting of a spectacular fight in a rematch everone can be happy about.
