Senior Vice President of MBA – Boxing Mr. Demis Tonna stated: “Today is a great day for us all. The day we as a country celebrate our fortieth year of Malta becoming a Republic State, our connection with being republic is that boxing this year became independent from ‘foreign rule’. It is a great pleasure for the President of the Malta Boxing Association Mr. Michael Bonello and me to observe this new boxing society, clubs and their members all work together under the same umbrella for the same cause showing a truly united front”.
The newly formed Malta Boxing Association (MBA – Boxing) is the country’s first non-profit Semi Pro and Professional Boxing governing organisation, formed by the ex-members of the Malta Boxing Organisation (MBO), Malta Boxing Council (MBCouncil) & Malta Boxing Commission Limited (MBC) whose mission statement is to Promote, Develop, Supervise, Encourage and Assist the interests of those who participate in the sport of boxing.
Event organisers would like to take the opportunity to thank the sponsors, Tigné Point, Bumarrad Commercials, Eurosport, Eat Me I’m Famous and Charlo Micallef as well as the members of the Malta Boxing Association as without them this event would not have been possible. Donations are still available on the Association’s website http://www.AssocjazzjoniBoxingMalta.com.
