Erik Skoglund has signed a new long-term contract with Team Sauerland. The Swedish light-heavyweight (14-0, 8 KOs) has put pen to paper following an impressive 2012 in which he clinched 7 victories, including 5 KOs.

“It´s great to be part of Europe´s biggest and most successful boxing team,” Skoglund said. “For a determined youngster, there is no better place to be. Team Sauerland have built me up from the moment I turned professional. I have learned so much from the work with my coach Karsten Roewer and I have benefited greatly from the very competitive atmosphere in training with all the other Team Sauerland fighters. If I keep working hard, the future looks bright, especially with the long-term TV contracts with Viasat, which will hopefully lift boxing to a whole new level in Sweden.”

Promoter Nisse Sauerland sees big things in the future for the unbeaten 21-year-old. “2012 was a defining year for Erik,” he said. “He has improved greatly and developed really well under the guidance of Karsten Roewer. The Nordic Fight Night series has been a huge hit, and Erik is certainly talented and charismatic enough to raise the profile of boxing in Sweden. He has lived up to his billing as the biggest Swedish talent in a long time and I can see him challenging for a title soon.”

Skoglund will be back in action on February 9 as part of Team Sauerland’s Nordic Fight Night series at Blue Water Dokken in Esbjerg, Denmark. In the main event of the evening, Danish star Patrick Nielsen (17-0, 8 KOs) will make the third defence of his WBA Intercontinental Middleweight Title against Patrick Mendy (14-5, 1 KO). Norwegian Featherweight Andreas Evensen (17-2-1, 6 KOs) will also be challenging European Champion Alexander Miskirtchian (21-2-1, 7 KOs).
